Description

韓德爾的歌劇《瑟梅菈》是取材至希臘神話故事中被天神宙斯引誘而懷孕生子的女子的故事。過去極少被演出，直到1970年代之後才開始漸受重視。1980年代指揮家賈第納與蒙台威爾第合奏團一同錄製該作品，讓樂迷因此能一睹此歌劇的全貌，之後就再也沒有演出此劇，直到2019年春天，賈第納才在倫敦亞歷山德拉宮與英國巴洛克獨奏家合奏團與蒙台威爾第合唱團再次演出，也就是本張專輯的版本。


賈第納認為《瑟梅菈》一劇充滿光彩奪目且令人無法抗拒的獨唱詠嘆調，劇中有抒情、有感性、有令人回味再三；有合奏、有二重唱以及還有不同於以往比重占多的合唱作品。他說自己雖然已在將近40年前第一次演出並錄製此作品，但賈第納認為韓德爾的《瑟梅菈》是屬於現在這個時代的。
